Forecasters say a dangerous heat wave is descending across much of Southern California, which is likely to bring triple-digit temperatures.

Extreme heat warnings have been issued from Santa Barbara to San Diego, lasting through at least next Friday.

The temperature on Tuesday reached 99 degrees in Central Park, where the city’s official weather station is. A thermometer there last reached that temperature in 2012.
